This pyranometer takes the measurement of solar radiation to the next level. By using a sapphire outer dome, it has negligible zero offsets. It is heated to remove dew and frost deposits, while maintaining its high measurement accuracy. When heating, the availability and accuracy of data is higher than when ventilating traditional pyranometers. In addition, it requires very low power; it only consumes 1.5 W against the usual 10 W for ventilation. The small thermal shifts make this pyranometer very suitable for measuring diffuse radiation.
